The Murle people of South Sudan and Ethiopia are an unreached community, with only about 2% identifying as evangelical Christians. In 2019, Ted Bertleson and local leader Lowoton secured permission from tribal chieftains to begin sharing the Gospel among the Murle. Through their dedicated efforts, by 2025, over 50 new believers were gathered and a new church was established.
The Murle in Ethiopia, numbering approximately 3,000, have endured severe hardships due to ongoing tribal conflicts. Tragically, about 20% of Murle children have lost one or both parents, leaving a high percentage of orphans in urgent need of care.
