A missionary in the Ecuadorian jungle with a willing heart to obey Jesus and a deep love for the Shuar and Achuar ethnic groups in the Taisha region.
The Taisha canton is located in the eastern part of Morona Santiago Province, Ecuador. Taisha has a population of approximately 35,000 inhabitants, of whom 71.11% are of the Shuar nationality and 21.43% are of the Achuar nationality. It is one of the most remote and difficult-to-access areas due to its location deep in the jungle. Consequently, the local population faces significant challenges regarding infrastructure, transportation, and access to basic services, including limited medical care.
My ministry centers around a one-hour radio service broadcast Monday through Friday via the area’s only local radio station. The gospel is shared in Spanish, Shuar, and Achuar. Given that radio is the primary means of communication in this region, it serves as an effective tool for planting and nurturing hope in Christ within the hearts of these communities.
My focus is to raise healthy leadership founded on sound doctrine within the Shuar and Achuar communities. During my first year in the area, I have diligently served in the Shuar community of San Miguel, visiting twice weekly and leading ministries for children, adolescents, and adults. By the grace of God, I have established a bilingual Spanish-Shuar preaching ministry for Sunday services, as well as a worship team and children’s ministries.
Additionally, I collaborate closely with the local church that hosts me, overseeing youth and women’s ministries. I also guide and translate for various local and international groups visiting Shuar or Achuar communities throughout Taisha. My heart remains ready and willing to serve Jesus wholeheartedly in every capacity possible.
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as working for the Lord and not for men.” — Taisha ♡
